This week, we are making the switch to Google Classroom. We will use Google Classroom starting Monday, April 20. Why are we switching?
- Make things easier (no more issues with Google docs, PupilPath, emailing work...)
- We want to see you face-to-face, so we need Google Hangouts! (similar to Zoom!)
What am I doing today?
- Accessing my student email & creating my password
- You will use this email/password for Google Classroom. You cannot access it with a personal Gmail.
- Completing today's virtual field trip
Step 1: Access Your Student Email
*You will need your student ID number (OSIS) - if you don't know it, check an old report card or PupilPath
- Go to this website: https://www.schools.nyc.gov/learn-at-home/technical-tools-and-support/doe-student-accounts
- Look under "Find Your Student Account ID and Password"
- Follow the directions
- Be sure to write this email/password down ... you'll be needing it!
** If you followed directions & created your email last week, skip to step 2!

ELA Extra Credit Competition We already have 7 original submissions - I am so excited!
April is POETRY MONTH – and we will be starting our poetry unit next week. To start us off, Ms. Streibel is hosting a poetry competition & we were invited to participate!
What do I have to do?
Write an original poem – it can be on any topic, in any form. This is your chance to be creative! This means it comes from you - not the internet.
How do I submit it?
E-Mail the poem to Ms. Pallas (cpallas@schools.nyc.gov) by April 17 (Friday). If possible, please type the poem (I have to email it for the competition & I want to make sure I send it how you want it!)
What do I get for this?
In addition to the chance of WINNING for the 6th grade, anyone who enters an original poem will get extra credit for Ms. Pallas.
